OZEV Approved Installers

Looking for help with the OZEV EV charger grant? At NOD Electrical Services, we install OZEV-authorised EV chargers across South London and North Surrey and help eligible customers choose the right grant, prepare the right documents and complete installation correctly. From 1 April 2026, the main OZEV home and workplace chargepoint grants increased to up to £500 per socket and are funded until 31 March 2027.

What is the OZEV EV charger grant?

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) offers government grants to reduce the cost of buying and installing eligible EV chargepoints. In 2026, the main live schemes most relevant to homes and businesses are:

  • EV chargepoint grant for renters and flat owners

  • EV chargepoint grant for households with on-street parking

  • EV chargepoint grant for residential landlords

  • Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

These schemes support different property types and applicants, so the right grant depends on whether you are a renter, flat owner, landlord or business.

How much is the OZEV grant in 2026?

For the main live home and workplace schemes, OZEV currently offers 75% off the cost of purchase and installation, capped at £500 per socket. Residents can apply for one socket, residential landlords can apply for up to 200 sockets across their sites, and workplaces can apply for up to 40 sockets across their sites.

Which OZEV grant might apply to you?

Renters and flat owners

You may qualify if you:

  • rent and live in a residential property, or

  • own and live in a flat

You must also have:

  • private off-street parking

  • an eligible electric vehicle

  • an eligible chargepoint

  • an OZEV-authorised installer

This grant is not available to someone who owns and lives in a house, unless that house has been converted into flats and you live in one of them.

Households with on-street parking

If you do not have a driveway, garage or other private off-street parking, you may qualify for the households with on-street parking grant. This grant supports properties installing a cross-pavement charging solution and requires the relevant permissions, including consent from the local highways authority where needed.

Residential landlords

Residential landlords can claim 75% off the cost of purchase and installation up to £500 per socket, for up to 200 sockets per year. The scheme is open to eligible landlords, RTM and RMC companies, some freeholders, registered social housing providers, charities, public sector organisations and property management companies acting for landlords. Applicants must be registered at Companies House or VAT registered.

Businesses and workplaces

Eligible businesses and workplaces can use the Workplace Charging Scheme. This covers 75% of purchase and installation costs up to £500 per socket, with support for up to 40 sockets across all sites. The scheme is open to eligible businesses, charities, public sector organisations and small accommodation businesses.

How the OZEV application process works

The process changed on 1 April 2026. For the renters and flat owners grant and the residential landlord grant, the customer now starts the application online. Once OZEV approves the application, the installer completes the work and submits the grant claim. For the renters and flat owners grant, applicants need a quote first and may need documents such as permission from a landlord, freeholder or property manager, plus proof of address and tenancy where relevant.

At NOD Electrical Services, we help by:

  • checking which grant applies

  • providing a clear quote for an eligible charger

  • guiding you on the permissions and documents needed

  • carrying out the installation once approval is in place

  • submitting the installer-side claim where the scheme requires it

Customers must not install before OZEV confirms eligibility under the new application process.

FAQS

What is the OZEV EV charger grant?

The OZEV EV charger grant is a UK government scheme that helps eligible applicants reduce the cost of buying and installing an EV chargepoint. In 2026, the main live schemes cover renters and flat owners, households with on-street parking, residential landlords and workplaces.

How much is the OZEV grant in 2026?

For the main live home and workplace chargepoint grants, the grant is currently worth 75% of the installation cost up to £500 per socket. This increased from £350 to £500 on 1 April 2026.

Can homeowners get the OZEV grant?

Some can, but not all. A person who owns and lives in a flat may qualify under the renters and flat owners grant. A household with on-street parking may qualify under the separate on-street parking grant. A typical homeowner living in a house with a private driveway is not eligible for the renters and flat owners grant.

Do renters qualify for the OZEV EV charger grant?

Yes. Renters can qualify if they live in a residential property, have private off-street parking, use an eligible vehicle, and install an eligible charger through an OZEV-authorised installer.

Can flat owners apply for the OZEV grant?

Yes. Flat owners can apply if they own and live in a flat, have private off-street parking, and meet the vehicle and installation requirements.

Can landlords get an OZEV grant?

Yes. Residential landlords can claim up to £500 per socket for eligible residential properties, with support for up to 200 sockets per year, provided they meet the scheme requirements and are Companies House registered or VAT registered.

Can businesses get an OZEV grant?

Yes. Eligible businesses and workplaces can use the Workplace Charging Scheme, which offers 75% off the cost up to £500 per socket for up to 40 sockets across all sites.

Do I apply for the OZEV grant myself?

Usually, yes for the residential schemes. Since 1 April 2026, customers applying for the renters and flat owners grant or the residential landlord grant start the application online themselves. After approval, the installer carries out the work and submits the claim.

Can I install the charger before the grant is approved?

No. Under the current process, the chargepoint must not be installed before OZEV confirms that the application is eligible.

What happened to the old £350 OZEV grant?

The main home and workplace chargepoint grants increased from £350 to £500 on 1 April 2026. Some people who applied before that date may be able to reapply for the higher rate if the charger has not yet been installed.

Is the old EVHS still available?

No. The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) ended earlier and has been replaced by later OZEV chargepoint grant schemes. The current eligibility rules are different from the old homeowner-focused scheme.

Are the old landlord infrastructure grants still open?

No. The commercial landlord chargepoint grant and residential landlord infrastructure grant closed to customer applications on 31 March 2026. The live landlord option is now the residential landlord chargepoint grant.
