Design before equipment

Installation that starts with the electrical supply.

We do not select a charger based on appearance alone. The consumer unit, earthing, available demand and cable route all influence the design.

Electrical survey and protection

Our assessment considers maximum demand, the DNO service arrangement, earthing, circuit design, load management, protective devices, open-PEN measures where applicable and BS 7671 Section 722.

We also consider charging equipment location, mechanical protection and the need for network connectivity.

Connected charging and handover

We install, inspect, test and commission the equipment and provide appropriate electrical documentation. Where available, we help with app pairing, schedules and charging settings.

For managed parking or workplaces, access control and reporting requirements may affect the charger selected.

Featured charger brands

We install EV chargers from all manufacturers.

These are six popular ranges we feature on the website, not a complete list of what NOD Electrical Services installs. We can discuss a charger you already own or another manufacturer.

OZEV grant guidance

EV charging grants: assess eligibility first.

Not every household qualifies. Grant rules and eligible equipment must be checked before installation.

Renters, flat owners and landlords

For certain eligible homes and residential landlords, support can be up to 75% of the eligible cost, capped at £500 per qualifying socket under the 2026–27 rules. Off-street parking and permissions matter.

Workplaces and on-street households

Qualifying workplaces and households with an approved cross-pavement charging arrangement may have separate grants. Local council permission is not automatic, and the usual rented/flat-owner rules do not cover a conventional owner-occupied house.

Official guidance: GOV.UK grant changes from April 2026 ↗. Eligibility, application processes and funding can change. The current schemes are scheduled to run until 31 March 2027.

EV advice

Common questions about charging.

A short answer may help you decide what photographs or information to send before a survey.

Do you only fit Zappi, Tesla, Ohme, Andersen, Sync EV or Simpson & Partners?

No. We install charging equipment from all major manufacturers. The six linked ranges are examples of chargers we feature.

Can you install a charger I have purchased myself?

Potentially. We check the model, condition, compatibility, manufacturer instructions and the electrical installation before accepting the job.

Can you install EV charging for a flat?

Potentially, if there is an appropriate parking arrangement, electrical supply and a lawful approved route, with the necessary consents.

Do you supply and install chargers for workplaces?

Yes. We assess charging use, supply and load management, user access, any required billing/reporting and the expansion strategy.

Do EV chargers always need an earth rod?

No. The design depends on the supply earthing arrangement, the particular EVSE and compliant protective measures, including open-PEN arrangements where required.
